This page documents a genealogical connection between Ron McCain and his wife, Dolores McBtide McCain, identified through shared 11th great-grandparents, Thomas Harris (1580–1634) and Elizabeth Hills (1577–1670).
Thomas Harris and Elizabeth Hills were English immigrants from Hatherop, Gloucestershire, who arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630 as part of the Winthrop Fleet, associated with the ship Lyon, and settled in the Charlestown area of present-day Massachusetts.
Descendant lines from this ancestral couple extend through multiple family branches. On Dolores’ side, the lineage includes Harris, Whitmore, Cornwall, Coleman, and McBride. On Ron’s side, the lineage includes Harris, Maverick, Clarke, Etheridge, Shoemake, Edmondson, and Davenport. This connection reflects the extensive and often unexpected interlinking of colonial-era New England families documented through genealogical research. Sometimes, we encounter a few surprises with our Genealogy research.
